According to reports, the woman had five children from her first marriage, but due to family disputes or personal reasons, she left her husband and children about two weeks ago.
She married another man and had been living in a rented house in Pinangwa. The woman has since died.
Villagers say the woman’s eldest son was deeply hurt and enraged by his mother’s decision. He feared social stigma and was upset that his mother had left home. On the day of
the incident, the accused son went to his mother’s new residence. A heated argument ensued between them, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
Stabbed her repeatedly, then fled
According to the police, the accused son’s anger reached such a point that he pulled out a knife from his pocket and attacked his mother. Eyewitnesses and police reports indicate that the son stabbed the woman multiple times in her hands and legs.
He continued to stab her until he was satisfied. The woman collapsed, bleeding profusely, after which the accused fled the scene. The injured woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but she did not survive.
Police searching for the accused
The Pinangwa police station is investigating the case. Officials say that no formal complaint has been filed by either party yet, but the police have taken suo motu cognizance of the incident and have launched a search for the accused.
